You might be wondering if you can still order a pair of work boots or firefighter boots during the coronavirus quarantine and the resulting stay-at-home order in force here in Washington state. After all, some people's need for a good pair of work boots regardless of whatever else is going on, as you might be considered an essential worker.

Just because some businesses are shut down doesn't mean that linemen and other tradespeople are furloughed or laid off as well, or firefighters and other essential personnel. In fact, during times like these, such workers may be even more needed than ever.

So can you still order a pair of work boots during the shelter-in-place order?

Nicks Boots Is Still Making Work Boots

essential business nicks boots

Yes, we are still making work boots. However, we are taking every precaution we possibly can to ensure the health and safety of our employees.

The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly made an enormous impact on the world, including the world economy. Many other businesses around us are having to suspend operations and face the uncertainty of whether they'll be able to continue anytime soon. These are strange times, and it may be some time before things are back to normal.

We remain committed to producing the highest-quality footwear available for people who do the hard work that keeps the rest of us safe, and keeps our society functioning.

Because our products are used by people that need them for use in what are deemed essential trades, and since our work boots and firefighter boots are certified for use in jobs that make them personal protective equipment, Nick's Boots is an essential business per Washington state guidelines.

Therefore, we are able to remain in operation. We can fulfill your order for boots, though some different procedures may be required.

How Can I Get A Pair Of Nick's Leather Boots?

curbside pickup for your nicks work boots

You can still order a pair of Nick's Handmade Boots, and we will still make your leather boots to order. However, there are some key differences in how your order can be taken or delivered.

Our showroom is closed to the public. You cannot be fit for your boots in our store at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is for your safety as well as for ours.

You can order from our website or over the phone as normal, however.

For custom-fit boots, we will send you a fit sheet. You can submit your measurements using our online form or over the phone. We will send you a trial pair built to your specifications in case any fine tuning is necessary.

We prefer to send boots by mail, but pickup at our factory can be arranged for if you live and work in the area.

We Are Prioritizing Work Boot Orders, So Your Lead Time May Increase

Another thing you should be aware of is that we are prioritizing orders at this time. First responders, essential trades, firefighters and other emergency workers that order from us get first priority.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but these workers often require the footwear they get from Nick's Boots as PPE, as well as being essential to doing their job safely and effectively.

As a result, you may experience an increased lead time for your order if you are not an emergency responder or other essential worker requiring work boots. Your lead time may increase by up to two weeks in some cases, if not longer. We thank you for your understanding.

However, Nick's Handmade Boots isn't going anywhere. Anyone who needs or wants a pair of our boots can still get them. The procedure is just changing a little bit for the time being.
