Edge

A piece of leather between the sole and the rest of the boot. The color of which is purely an aesthetic choice.

Edge Dressing

A water-soluble colored dye applied to the edge of the boots. It is available in black, brown, natural, and beeswax. Black, brown, and natural edges receive an application of beeswax to condition the boot as well as a stain on the edge.

Over time, the color of black and brown will start to come off moving towards the natural coloring while the natural color will darken slightly when worn. A boot edge dressing can be reapplied at home to retain its original color.

If you will be in extremely wet environments, including snow, it is suggested to apply additional beeswax to the edge of your boots when received.
