Sizing
- Length: Our boots are longer than mass-produced footwear. With that in mind, we recommend going down a 1/2 size from your Brannock length. Example: If you normally wear size 12D, we recommend a size 11.5D for your Nicks.
- Width: In addition to length, consider the width of your feet when selecting boots, as most brands' boots are built with the standard D width. This measurement is typically more precise with a tailors tape rather than a Brannock device. Nicks offers a wide range to help fit your feet, with A-FF widths available in many of our lasts.

If you are still uncertain about what sizing will work for you, we offer our Buy With Confidence program! You have one size exchange guaranteed with every made to order boot.
A last is the mold that gives your boots their shape and determines how they fit around your foot. Each Nicks last has a different combination of arch support, toe shape, and toe-box width, so choosing the right one helps you customize your boots for your feet and how you plan to wear them.

Mismates are a pair of boots made in two different sizes to accommodate feet that differ in length, width, or both. They can provide a more precise fit when one foot is noticeably different from the other. Not applicable for 99% of customers.
The outsole is the part of the boot that meets the ground, affecting traction, durability, and comfort. Different outsoles are designed for different terrains, work environments, and everyday wear.

A relief cut is a notch in the leather at the ankle that allows the boot to flex more naturally and reduces pressure or pinching during break-in. It’s a great option if you want increased flexibility and comfort, especially with stiff leathers.

The rounded box shape is perfect with a composite safety toe and leaves room to wiggle your toes and not bottom out when on a downhill grade.
I needed the composite toes for work. Unfortunately, they are so big that they make the boots look a little like clown shoes. I don’t like that, but it is what it is. The boots are functional and comfortable, they just don’t look as good as my other Nick’s boots that don’t have the composite toes. Glad I didn’t also get the toe cap with 4 rows of stitching that I was also considering.
The boots are amazing and have a near perfect fit. I was told that Nick's Boots were made to a high standard and was definitely not disappointed. Getting the size correct was somewhat of an ordeal, especially after getting it wrong the first time. I wasn't too thrilled about getting placed in the back of the line to fix it either. But after a true exercise in patience I was provided with probably the best pair of footwear I've ever owned.
The composite toes in the moctoe boots have enough space for my toes not to hurt while wearing the boots. I haven’t wore my boots for work yet because I and working in and around a lot of mud but will definitely wear them as soon as concrete is poored. The ash gray moc toe boots are too nice for mud
Break-in was faster than inexpensive boots with foam insoles. The leather insole is very comfortable. Extremely comfortable after 1 week of use. No foot or knee pain standing and walking 10+ hours a day. Waterproof out of the box, no need for waterproofing. Stitch, leather, and sole quality is excellent. Fit is very snug, no heel or foot slip when climbing or walking. No complaints or regrets. I went back and forth with 6-inch and 8-inch height. Glad I went with the 8-inch, great in the snow, mud, and inches of water. Very surprised how warm these boots are in snow as they are unlined and not insulated. Only critical comment is that since the boots are so snug, they are challenging to slip on.
After clomping around for a few weeks in what felt like hard shell mountaineering boots they’re really getting nicely broken in. They keep getting more comfortable as I put time into them. The support is spectacular, I could probably use crampons no problem. Only downside, no fault of boot, is I’m made to wear safety toes. Doesn’t bother most but I get a little rub which I’m hoping goes away with more time.
Composite toe nice a roomy
Boots are now broke in and feeling good! Worth the wait for sure!
Very durable! I have a tendency to tear through the toes of shoes from dragging my feet, and these ones have held up incredibly well!
Better that other boots the fit perfectly no crowding excellent boots so far….
Great boots. Excellent workmanship
Great boot
My big toe doesn’t rub against the side of the boot like it did in my Red Wings
The right foot has odd shape to toe in appearance, but comfort and ware are not affected so…
My second pair is even better than the first!
Great boots, comfortable as fuck!
So far I am pleased with them I have worn the boot off and on for a couple of weeks they are a good quality heavy duty boot
Very little break in time and comfortable right out of the box. Sizing was accurate for the most part. They feel a little bigger than I’m used to but I’m going to go with the recommendation. All and all super stoked on these boots.
Great for both ground work and up the pole. Super pumped on these! 10/10
Only a dropped piece of metal will confirm the adequacy of the toe box, but I like the weight compared to a steel toe and since I don't regularly do fab work, the level of protection is a good trade-off.
No toe rub yet!
All of my toes are still attached!
Helps keep toe from collapsing and keeps the overall toe shape better. Def worth the $10
Another amazing pair of boots .I own x6 pair of your boots .I use them for work and i have a pair i wear for every day.I have 12 B width feet ,so its impossible to buy over the counter boots.I tell every one Nicks boots are the best in the business and your employees are so great to work with .Thank you for a great product.
I love the celastic toe. I have a pair of White’s 350’s I had to size up a half as I didn’t realize that the width of the Nicks 55 last is a tad more narrow. The build quality and qc surpasses my White’s, in my opinion.
