size guide

A last is the mold that gives your boots their shape and determines how they fit around your foot. Each Nicks last has a different combination of arch support, toe shape, and toe-box width, so choosing the right one helps you customize your boots for your feet and how you plan to wear them.

Mismates are a pair of boots made in two different sizes to accommodate feet that differ in length, width, or both. They can provide a more precise fit when one foot is noticeably different from the other. Not applicable for 99% of customers.
The outsole is the part of the boot that meets the ground, affecting traction, durability, and comfort. Different outsoles are designed for different terrains, work environments, and everyday wear.

A relief cut is a notch in the leather at the ankle that allows the boot to flex more naturally and reduces pressure or pinching during break-in. It’s a great option if you want increased flexibility and comfort, especially with stiff leathers.

Great fit. Great quality. The hype of Nicks boots is worth the wait. The two tone leather looks amazing.
First PNW type of boot and went all out with the Overlander and DS Burgundy. Measurement and sizing guide worked well for the length and width of my foot on the HNW last but I had a bit of room in the vertical direction that a pair of thick leather insoles fixed up.
The leather is beautiful and I'm sad to see many of the color double stuff leathers go away. I hope to pick up a dressier boot in the 1925 last soon!
The Shackleton leather is amazing! Love the green and the overall build quality of the boots is unmatched. Working on breaking them in, which will take a bit but the fit and finish is five star!
I ordered the Overlander boots in Mahogany 64 rough out leather. I've had them for 2 weeks now and the break in process has been going smoothly so far. Straight out of the box they are pretty stiff and take a while to get on but I was able to wear them for my full work day with only some minor aces and pains. I'm pretty light on my boots and depending on the kind of work you do you might want to switch out your boots half way through the day to give your feet some rest. You get what you pay for, expect high quality materials and excellent craftsmanship. These boots are tough, I can tell that these boots will last me a lifetime.
Built tough and heavy. I'll survive the nuclear winter.
Great customer service!!
This is the best boot ever excellent build
Nice design I very love my boot it was what I expected thanks nicks boots
Very nice
Good but a smidge long. I’ve been wearing Nick’s boots for 15 years, and it’s hard to get the perfect length. I’ll keep this pair and deal with it. Better than losing toenails.
Fantastic boots, took them out of the box and coated them with Mink Oil over the course of a week. I wore them around the house to break them in, and then took them hiking and camping in West Virginia. Break in period wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, no blisters, no hurt feet. The size difference between the boots was noticeable, the right boot is more snug than the left one. It's a bit difficult to slide your foot in because the leather isn't lined, so it catches your socks. But the leather footbed is comfortable and I started to feel it take shape ove the course of my hiking trip. Since they were heavily coated with Mink Oil all the mud and water rolled right off and had a breeze cleaning them. Temps were pretty low outdoors and these won't keep your feet warm if you're stationary, but they won't be cold if you're moving. Great tread grip.
Beautiful
Just arrived….my first Nicks, they had a big journey, Spokane to Italy.
During these 6 months waiting, I saw so many post, video, and whatever was concerning the world of PNW handmade boots, and I was transported into it. Guys whatever you see or read about this Nicks boots, you cannot understand what it means, until you get it. They are speechless, the quality and the structure of the construction and the leather are looking they will last forever….thanks Nicks for the great experience…
I just set 4 stars on price cause the shipment and custom prize increased sensibly the purchase.
It wasn’t easy shelling out nearly $600 for a pair of boots, but boy am I glad I did. I don’t anticipate having to replace these for a very long time, as I’ve had them for 2 years now and they are still in great shape. I make sure to clean and oil them regularly and I’ve never had any problems. The only minor “issue” is that the piece of leather which your foot touches as it hits the sole starts to peel back after 6-12 months of regular use. I’m guessing it could be glued back down fairly easily, though. All things considered, though, these are far and away the best pair of footwear I’ve ever owned.
I have just received my pair of 1964 leather overlanders.
The first impression when opening the box is the massive appearance of the boots. We immediately see that these are shoes for outdoor work. The leather is really beautiful, both soft and warm. For the size I took 1/2 size below the usual size but I chose the width E, well it's just perfect. You will have understood, I am very happy with this pair of boots.
A big thank you to the entire Nicks boots team.
I've had a LONG history of trying out boots and foot problems to go along with that. From the cheap, mass produced boots, to the Nick's and some of their competitors. The Overlander, by Nick's, is BY FAR the best boot I've ever owned and worn! The attention to detail, quality, and fit are unparalleled. I HIGHLY recommend these boots to anyone, be it the construction site, the office, the forest, or some occupation in between. I now own two pair and will be ordering a third very soon.
I watched several YouTube channels discuss these boots (shout out to Rose Anvil) and thought long and hard about making a purchase. As a resident of Scotland I was cautious as America uses different shoe size conventions, even different size paper leaving me unable to use your size guide with confidence. I used a measuring tape and conversion charts to get the correct size.
I eventually went for it and ordered 1964 brown Overlanders. They arrived 2 days ago. I wore them all day yesterday.
Thoughts:
1. Your customer service is first class. Truly, you should be proud of your colleagues, Nicks.
2. My error, but I forgot to add import taxes to my calculation of cost. I'll know better next time. Not a fault with Nicks, more of a reminder for any other UK based customers.
3. The quality is superb.
4. I wore them all day yesterday. They were quite tight around the top of my foot at first but had "relaxed" enough by lunchtime that they were pain free.
5. Not broken in yet. Not even close, but they are much more comfortable than I had expected at this stage in the process
6. I'm back here browsing for my next pair.
I guess point 6 tells you all you need to know, really..
Extremely high quality , took time to get but well worth the wait , everyday they get more comfortable . Will be ordering another pair very soon!
I got my boots about a month ago it took a while to get them but it was well worth the wait. I ordered 8 inch Overlanders, lug sole, soft toe, 1964 all smooth out, natural color sole. Nice looking boot. Thick leather. Definitely can feel the weight and quality of the leather when you pick one up. The weight is not noticeable on your feet. I normally wear 11s. So I ordered 10 1/2 because I’d rather be a little big than a little small. The guide says go down half size.
I had a little heel slippage during break and nothing major. The worst part was the upper just above my ankle because there’s so much leather there to break in. It was kind of painful. But I folded the tongue leather to the one side alternating sides to lessen the discomfort. I also didn’t lace the upper as tight in the beginning and that helped as well. But gradually as they broke in I could lace them a little tighter without discomfort.
I wore them most everyday. After about 3 weeks there was no discomfort and I could lace them all the way up snug. Now they fit and feel great. They are so comfortable to wear. I will be a Nicks guy forever. At the end of the day my feet are not tired or sore like the other boots I use to wear. Its like they literally molded to my feet. Can’t be happier. Thank you for building a great pair of boots.
I just bought my first pair of Nicks and they arrived today. Following their guide exactly was perfect. Not broken in yet but it fits so perfectly. I love it so much
I just got my Overlanders I ordered back in October, and they were worth the wait. The boots are built as well as you could possibly imagine -- because of course they are, they're Nicks after all -- but the thing that has really impressed me is the 1964 leather. Even though today was my first time wearing them to work, I can already tell the break-in is going to be WAY easier. The leather really is more supple than (and just as tough as) the standard work leathers. On the YouTube segment introducing the leather, Grant had mentioned that additional colors were coming in the same tannage. Once additional colors (or at least black, walnut and the other work leather colors) are available, I'd consider someone a masochist if they ordered anything else. If, at that point, Nicks started making the 1964 leather their default work boot leather, everybody who's ever gone through the break-in process for a pair of standard Builder Pros would rejoice.
I love these boots! They’re great looking and perfect for the office or working outside. My boots came in almost a month ago and I’ve been wearing them almost every other day now since I’ve gotten them. Each time I wear them they get a little more comfortable. The break-in time is no joke, but well worth it for the quality of these boots.
I was a bit nervous about spending $500+ for a pair of boots. I had looked at other boot companies, but kept coming back to Nick's. Once I decided to push the purchase button I felt a sense of relief and began to eagerly await their arrival.
The entire Nick's process was great.
I did the try on boot route and the Nick's employee that I talked to over the phone was extremely helpful and patient while working with me.
When the boots arrived - they were wonderfully well made and I couldn't be more pleased with them. So much so, that I'm getting ready to purchase a second set of boots from Nick's.
I watched Nick's videos on the break in and listened to others talk about the process they went through, but I haven't had any real issues. The first day I got the boots I wore them for five hours with no problems. My first day at work with them I wore them for six hours and then put my old boots back on - a mistake - I couldn't believe the difference in comfort and support between the Nick's boot and my other boot.
I've worn work boots almost everyday of my life for the last 45 years. If you are hesitant about the boots because of the price, you needn't be, they are well worth what you are paying for them.
I just received my boots yesterday, I must say everything about them is amazing!!!
