The order process was easy and the boots are fantastic. The Nicks team was professional and responsive.
Love them. Have a pair of Hot Shots. And a pair of the Robert’s. Wanted something I could wear in warmer weather. Take hiking etc. Have narrow feet. Great to get boots that fit me. Spokane Black doesn’t have much nap in Rough Out. Unique Look and seems to be a Tuff leather.
I bought these for general outdoor use, hiking and hunting in the mountains of Appalachia, some steep slopes and soft ground. I do also walk around in them at home or stores, etc. to get a few more miles on them for break-in. The natural predator leather was on overstock sale for a shorter lead time and looks more brown in person than some of the pictures, which I’m happy with. I chose urban logger just because I think the logger heel looks cool, and 8 inch height because I like the appearance and find that to be more comfortable than 6 inch; same for the 11067 last, I just like the look, and a little vertical toe room is nice. I used a tracing of my foot, tape measure, and Nick’s printed size guide, came up 10 D and they fit like a glove. The arch support is not as high on the inside as it looks from the outside, and is comfortable under foot after some wear. I will definitely buy more Nicks boots, but it might be a while.
Awesome boots, second pair
Still breaking them in feet are painful. Please ask me the red review.
Amazing build quality and craftsmanship
Amazing boots, excellent quality and comfortable from day one. The Urban Loggers exceeded my expectations. Great customer from Nicks. Highly recommended !
These boots fit my lifestyle. I wear them hiking, farming, socially and then into the City. The quality in them is obvious. The amazing Pacific Waxed Flesh leather will get better and better with age and I can't wait to see the patina come though. The fit is good, but I know with each wear it will mould to my feet. There is one downside - I am 65, I genuinely think these boots will outlast me.
Upgraded from Milden veg tan work boots which claimed to be even more premium than these, but these are much better. These boots are perfect for my use case. I am a college student who needs to have a comfortable and high quality boot that looks nice in semi-dress settings, but I also have a summer landscaping and handyman work during the summer. These boots are there and ready for all of the above! The first boot in my life that fits me perfectly. Also, I don't know if theres a single person out there who is wondering this, but these boots are surprisingly comfortable to mountain and road bike in. Cannot recommend this boot and this company enough. I've wanted these boots for over five years and finally had the money to buy them this year. No regrets!!!
Took a bit longer to receive my order than I anticipated. Boots are exactly what I expected. Good quality and craftsmanship. Still breaking them in but so far so good.
Amazing constuction, built perfectly to spec, the Thurman last was the best decision ever 👀
The shoes are really good and stylish, and I’m already planning new orders.
Build quality, leather, comfort, all 5 stars! Absolutely incredible boots. Took mere hrs to break in!
I bought this boot as my very first nicks and wow it's surpassed my expectations. It's beautiful, tough and over engineered. The arch support is second to none and I made the right decision to half size down from regular Truman and Redwing. The first few hours were quite painful but then the leather slowly moulds to my feet.
These boots fit well from the first time that I put them on. I visited a local leather shop, the owner saw my Nick's key chain and asked doubtfully if I had these boots. I lifted my foot and showed them to him. He actually called one of his associates from the back of the shop to come up an have a look at them. These are beautiful, stylish, robust American made works of great craftsmanship.
These boots are awesome i’ve always bought whites But I am not a big fan of large conglomerate companies always been a fan of Mom and pop shops family owned companies these guys are awesome the boot quality is beautiful Will definitely be ordering another pair For folks shopping for Pacific Northwest style boots You won’t go wrong with nicks just keep in mind you have to break them in and be patient with the process once they’re broken in you will never go back to cheap boots again well worth the money
TLDR; These are expensive boots, but the value=quality. Legit get what you pay for.
I got quick ship in Smooth over Roughout walnut, I expected to have a 2 month break-in before they were comfortable, but these popped on first wear. I had a tiny amount of hot-spots on first day and every day since has been a pleasure. I got what I wanted from these, which is tough as nails boots that I WANT to wear every day. 2 months in, my 3 year old iron rangers are technically comfier, but I'd rather wear the loggers. Literally every aspect of these is just better. Better speed lace, better hardware, better leather, better sewing, better mid-sole, better sock liner... everything.
Some things that are negatives (for me):
The toe box is a little tight on my pinky toe. Strangely, the iron rangers actually have a wider toe box than the Nicks, which was surprising.
The roughout leather is like a sponge, if you're anywhere near a liquid, just expect it to be absorbed into the roughout, mebbe go smooth out if water is involved.
There was a visually noticeable bump from a nail in the center of the left heel, but I can't feel it when I'm wearing them, even if I pay attention.
Get some good socks. the loose knit socks become very apparent in these. Not sure if it's because the leather is so stiff or what, but good quality socks are worth here.
I've had these 2 months and love them, they don't really have any wear showing on them (couple dirt marks and the thread on the sole is worn). The leather is super thick, but supple enough that the break in wasn't bad at all. I don't see any material or work on the boots that isn't top notch, So if you like the look and can afford it, it's probably worth pulling the trigger.
Sizing: I wear my iron rangers in 9D, measure 9.5EE on brannock , after worrying about it for ages, I got 9D in Nicks too and they basically fit the same, so if you have iron rangers, they wear about the same (tighter in the toe)
Title says it all. Thinking over the stuff that I own, in terms of quality this is probably at the top of the list.
For some context as to what I use them for: I work in an office and live in a big city. I'm not sure I'm exactly the working type that these boots were designed for. That said, I walk everywhere, often 3-6 miles a day. It chews through my other shoes and other boots. These are the first pair I've had that I can tell are really going to hold up well. Everyone always says they're amazed at the quality when they get them and I can testify to that. From opening the box I was blown away by how well made these are and even after having them for about a month I'm still amazed at how great they are. I got these in the classic configuration in the 1964 brown leather and they're just so beautiful. There's been a slight break in but it's been pretty manageable.
In short: if you're looking for the type of quality that only comes from being Made in the USA you've got it right here. These are some serious boots and I love them. Thanks kindly to everyone at Nicks who worked hard to make these amazing boots!
These boots are very well made. They are sturdy and heavy until you put them on your feet, then they just feel right. You know your feet are well protected. They are still breaking in and getting more comfortable every day. They are well worth the money. I am happy with my decision to buy a pair.
Bottom line before I get all verbose: I'm very, very glad I spent the money on these amazing boots.
I got these boots from the "In Stock" page. They are the same boots as on the website's "Buy with confidence free size exchanges" banner. And in person they're freaking beautiful. Out of the box, they look and feel and smell brand new. Out of the box, they're not particularly comfortable, but they weren't as bad as all the warnings. Stiff - yes. Tough on the footbed - yes. Squeezy around the ball of my foot area - somewhat. But over the last three weeks I've conditioned the heck out of them and worn them for everything from sitting in a chair working on a computer to mild hiking to even working out on my elliptical machine. When they finally started to break in, it was like turning a corner. They seemed better every day, and now my feet look forward to being in them. They're not completely broken in yet, but they're well on their way. And while some issues still exist, I love wearing them. Like I said, they seem to get better every day. I have shaped my days around finding ways to stay on my feet (like working on my computer at a counter instead of a desk), and that has proven to be a good idea. As a matter of fact, I'm at a counter wearing the boots while I type out this review. If you're reading this because you're on the fence about buying these boots, I'd very strongly suggest you get them.
