After months of development, we are happy to offer the first official boot model made with Wickett & Craig’s vegetable tanned leather. We have been testing and wearing this around the shop and love the results. The leather has a relatively easy break-in though once broken in, it will hold its shape well. The leather wears like a nice saddle, it will break in and get better with age. As the boot breaks in, the leather will gain a lot of character, or patina, making them unique to the wearer. Expect the boots to slowly darken over their lifetime. Vegetable tanned leather is not naturally water-resistant, so proper care is necessary. This will also maintain the luster and condition of the leather. Please note that this leather may show more marks, scuffs, or stains than other leathers, though conditioning will greatly mitigate these effects. This tannery has been making leather the old fashioned way since 1867. Each side can take about six weeks to produce, making it a significantly longer production time than most leather on the market. The results speak for themselves, as this leather both looks and feels different than most boot leather.
